Extended School Services (ESS)
Below are protocols from ESS students who are enrolled in the DPIE After School classes, however, please check with your ESS Director for clarification on any of the below protocols.
ALL ESS STUDENTS – must have a completed Parent Consent Form to be able to attend a DPIE After School class. A new form is required for all new seasons. Please contact your ESS School Site Director for their specific school form.
- All students MUST go to at ESS before they go to their after-school class to let them know you are in attendance.
- Kindergarten students will be collected from ESS by the DPIE Instructors (names and contact telephone will be sent out before class begins). At the end of the class, the DPIE Instructor will walk the kindergarten student back to ESS.
- 1st – 5th Graders will be allowed to walk back from their after-school class without supervision, unless their parent has arranged for another adult to drop them off.
- ESS staff are not required to pick up students from their after-school classes. Grades 1 – 5 will walk about from class to ESS on their own.
- ESS teachers will sign the students in from their after school class once they arrive at ESS, unless the adult/teacher agrees to sign them in.
- Parents will need to notify ESS if a parent decides to pick up their student after a DPIE class and they are NOT returning to ESS.
PLEASE REMEMBER:
- When registering for a class, PLEASE select “ESS” on the question of “How your child will be picked up at the end of class”.
- Our instructors will pick up Kindergarten students at ESS only.
- At the end of the class, Kindergarten ESS students will be taken back to ESS, after all other students have been picked up.
- Grades 1 – 5 may walk back from class unsupervised.
