DPIE is happy to announce that we have entered into a partnership with Bay Area Driving School to offer virtual drivers education classes which students are required to complete prior to getting their Driver’s Permit. Bay Area Driving School has a proven track record of success and has been successfully teaching drivers education courses in communities, school districts and private schools throughout the Bay Area since 1949. DPIE feels fortunate to be working with such an established and well-regarded company.

Since students must be at least 15 ½ years old when they apply for their permit, the driver’s education classes are open to students 15 years and older.   Since DPIE is a non-profit, any profits generated will be used to support programs in the Dublin Unified School District.

While classes will be taught online, a certified instructor will lead the class for the three-hour duration of each class session, 9 am – 12 Noon. Instruction will be provided live by a certified Driver’s Education instructor.

Required Topics to be Covered

  • Responsibilities that comes with having a driver’s license
  • Rules of the road
  • Safe driving techniques and strategies
  • The dangers of speeding
  • Defensive driving
  • Accident-avoidance procedures and much more.

Independent assignments will be assigned and will need to be completed during the week.

As part of the course, students will have an opportunity to practice test questions they will need to know to pass the written DMV test required to get their permit. Two major tests will be given half-way through and at the end of the class that students must master to receive the certificate of completion needed to get a driver’s permit.  Students will be able to re-take the test as necessary to earn their certificate of completion and certificates will be mailed to your home 5 – 7 days once you have completed the course.
