We are offering a dynamic selection of courses available from Kindergarten through to 5th Grade.  Below is the list of courses we are offering at Dublin Elementary.

Courses are offered 1 day per week up to 10 weeks. 10 hours of tuition.

Tuition - $189 -$210 per course.  Early Bird pricing available to August 25th.

Each class that moves forward will generate contributions to the School, the Parent Faculty Club (PFC) and to the Student Council.

Actors’ Workshop!

It’s laughter, learning and limelight with the After School Drama Club - The Actor’s Workshop! Through a fun series of theater games, acting exercises and scripted scene work, this introductory acting class teaches the fundamentals of the actor’s craft. Students explore the “three tools of the actor” – voice, body and imagination – as they learn how to create characters, interpret scripts and perform for an audience. The class teaches true theater skills such as stagecraft, emotionally truthful acting, and professional theater etiquette, while encouraging creativity and inspiring the imagination. The class culminates with a workshop presentation of scenes and monologues for an invited audience.

Beginning Typing Class

This course is a beginning course for students who need to learn basic typing skills. It will cover proper finger placement for typing so students can move away from pecking at the keys. This class will be fun and engaging and will include typing games to practice their new skills!

Chess Academy for Kids

Learn chess with Pacific Chess Academy!  This program is a great opportunity for kids to learn how to overcome obstacles, think strategically, and stay focused. Specifically designed for young players with various levels (Beginners, Intermediate, Advanced), the course offers video lessons, easy-to-follow instructions, individual recommendations, and preparation to chess tournaments. The use of the modern technology (projectors, iPad, teaching software) makes the learning process easy, fast, and fun! The class is offered to grades 1-5. All necessary equipment (boards and pieces, clocks, demo tools) provided. Participants receive certificates and trophies at the end of the school year.

Engineering and Problem Solving with Keva Planks

Does your student love to build?  Then this is the after school course designed for them.  “KEVA planks are about 1/4 inch thick, 3/4 inch wide and 4 1/2 inches long. You build structures by simply stacking the planks. No glue, no connectors. They can be stacked upright which looks like it would be unstable as a house of cards, but even this type of structure is surprisingly stable.”  Each day class will begin with individual building challenges, move to group challenges and then finish up with free time for building. During challenge activities students will practice different problem solving techniques as well as learning to work cooperatively in a group. Along the way they will learn some basic engineering, architectural, math and science skills.

In fact, did you know that research shows that students who play with blocks tend to do better in mathematics and science in higher grade levels?  Well, it’s true and researchers from the University of Idaho have concluded that playing with blocks helps children develop a fundamental understanding of quantities, equality & geometry. Playing, building and having fun while learning, what could be a better than that?

Fasten your seatbelts; we're in for some wild weather! This unit is all about the amazing and powerful forces of nature, as students explore the when, where, how and why of all kinds of natural phenomenon. These lessons are designed to improve your child's understanding of the forces of nature, while taking care not to alarm. Each LEGO® model represents the motion of that particular weather or event, with a seat for a mini-figure to take in the action! Take cover because we're about to take a trip through some wild weather! Kids will love to build moving models of a tornado, a tsunami, an earthquake and a cyclone using Bricks 4 Kidz proprietary instructions and LEGO® Bricks!  Learn how they move, why they happen and what you can do to stay safe!

This is a hands-on class where students build machines, buildings, vehicles and other structures out of LEGO® bricks, using one-of-a-kind model plans designed by Bricks 4 Kidz.  While exploring principles of engineering, architecture, physics and more, students will develop problem solving and critical thinking skills. Participants build a new project each week. Each class begins with a teacher-led discussion related to the day’s model. Once the project is completed, children use the rest of their time to expand their gadgets and collaborate with one another.

Introduction to Cartooning & Making Comics

Kids will develop their drawing and storytelling skills in this fun introductory course on cartooning. Through guided drawing lessons, students will learn how to design simple characters, draw facial expressions, and create a short comic strip. We'll also read popular comics to understand how they're made -- and, because reading is fun! At the end of the course, students will take home their sketchbooks and a copy of our published class comic book. All skill levels are welcome.

Introduction to Creativity with Clay and Ceramics

In this beginners clay and ceramics class be prepared be creative and fun while you get your hands dirty. Students will learn clay basics through fun projects. The kids start by learning about ceramic paints and what makes them so different from regular everyday paints. They will learn to make a pinch pot project, a name plaque with clay coils, a textured slab bowl, and a free choice clay project. All clay pieces will be painted once they are fired. The students will also be able to keep their projects and take them home with them at the end of the class.

Kiddie Coding Club – Introduction to Computer Programming, Robotics & Circuit Building

Would you be excited if your child had an opportunity to learn the universal language of the planet, explore robotics and build circuits? Does your child enjoy math, engineering, technology, design and hands on activities? Kiddie Coding Club may be the perfect opportunity for them to tap into these 21st century prerequisites! In Kiddie Coding Club we learn basic coding concepts, use and build  Mindstorm Lego robots, build circuits with Snaplinks and Tinybits.

Come join Kiddie Coding Club where we will learn how to work together Using, Code.org, Tynker, and Code Combat to program in a fun and safe environment.  It doesn’t matter if your child has coding experience or not, this class is for everyone.  It will build on concepts some students already know and teach concepts to those who are new to the coding.  All interested students are welcome.

What a joy it is to know how to play a musical instrument! This course is a beginners course for students who want to explore the realm of playing the piano. What better way to learn than learn by doing? 

This class will build up each student’s foundation and knowledge on reading notes, proper hand posture, counting, finger speed exercises, and more! Each student will be paired with their own keyboard. This active engagement course will foster each student’s joy for music as well as hone their precision. Students are required to work well both independently and within a group there will be both one-on-one and small group exercises.

What do you want to be when you grow up?  On this adventure students will travel to Cool Careers Island© where they will get a taste of some of the world’s most exciting jobs from veterinarian to marine biologist to professional basketball player!  Students are faced with a captivating challenge as they travel to this unique “island” and work collaboratively in “tribes” using the Scientific Method to think critically about possible solutions to their challenge for the success of their “tribe”. Using a variety of materials in their provided treasure chest and their boundless imaginations students will plan, design and create something special, free of technology, that fulfills the “islands” challenge requirements while giving them the freedom to drive their own learning outcome.  In this course students are provided with an enriched, fun-filled experience that develops lifelong learners and problem solvers.
