We are offering a dynamic selection of courses available from Kindergarten through to 5th Grade.  Below is the list of courses we are offering at Amador Elementary.

Courses are offered 1 day per week up to 10 weeks. 10 hours of tuition.

Tuition - $189 - $210 per course.  

Each class that moves forward will generate contributions to the School, the Parent Faculty Club (PFC) and to the Student Council.

Actors' Workshop!

It’s laughter, learning and limelight with the After School Drama Club’s The Actor’s Workshop! Through a fun series of theater games, acting exercises and scripted scene work, this introductory acting class teaches the fundamentals of the actor’s craft. Students explore the “three tools of the actor” – voice, body and imagination – as they learn how to create characters, interpret scripts and perform for an audience. The class teaches true theater skills such as stagecraft, emotionally truthful acting, and professional theater etiquette, while encouraging creativity and inspiring the imagination. The class culminates with a free workshop presentation of scenes and monologues for an invited audience.

Bolly Fusion Dance Class for Kids

An active, energetic, and diverse Bollywood Dance class that will focus on merging many different styles of dance into one, while encouraging students to build their confidence levels. Students will be exposed to Indian Classical Dance, Folk Dance, Bhangra, and Bollywood through choreographed dance pieces. Students will learn specific technique associated with each of these dance styles, including but not limited to what the hand gestures and steps are called, the meaning behind each gesture, and how to string it together in a fluid motion. Lessons will focus on understanding rhythm and how to hear the beats within each song.

Students will learn the true art of performance, with lessons on stage presence, facial expressions, and expressing emotions through dance! Students will build their knowledge on how to weave all the different forms of dance to create a choreographed piece. In addition, through BollyFusion dance classes, students will learn character traits like responsibility, passion, and hard work, while learning vibrant and entertaining dances.

Contemporary Dance for Kids

Contemporary as a dance style is a fusion of ballet, jazz, funk, and modern dance styles.  Contemporary dance encourages natural, spontaneous movement and focuses on self-expression, awareness of space and body movement, use of body weight, efficiency of muscle use, safe body alignment and strong use of Modern Dance technique. Classes start with a comprehensive warm-up focusing on improving flexibility, extension, core strength, and balance and gradually build up to contemporary steps and combinations that will consist of abstract movements combining modern and classical ballet elements. Students will learn how to express a wide range of emotions through their dance based on musical interpretation and individual style and using the contemporary dance form as a platform for creative self-expression. Classes emphasize technique, fundamentals and a familiarization of the dance vocabulary.  

Recommended Dress - Students must be able to move and stretch fully.  Footless tights, leggings, leotards, fitted dance shorts, fitted tops, t-shirts and athletic pants are ideal.  Medium or long hair pulled away from face in pony-tail, braid, or bun. No shoes, bare-feet.

Learn chess with Pacific Chess Academy!  The program is a great opportunity for kids to learn how to overcome obstacles, think strategically, and stay focused.  Specifically designed for young players with various levels (including beginners), the course offers video lessons, easy-to-follow instructions, individual recommendations and preparation for chess tournaments.  The use of chess teaching software makes the learning process easy, fast, and fun! The class is offered to ALL GRADES. The necessary equipment for lessons (boards & pieces, clocks, demo tools) is provided.

All necessary equipment (boards and pieces, clocks, demo tools) provided. Participants receive certificates and trophies at the end of the school year. It doesn’t matter if you are a beginner or a Chess Champion, this class is for students at all ability levels.

Courage and creativity start here...join the "Color Your Dreams" team. Start the year strengthening your small muscular coordination with art and history! Does your child love to write and use their imagination to come up with creative stories? Then this is the class for them! Through several different writing activities, we will explore possible ways to think outside of the box and get truly original ideas on paper! We'll experiment with character and plot development in ways that are unique and new from Painted Paper Stories to Squiggle Stories to What If/Prediction Stories and so much more! I can't wait to see what we come up with! This course is constantly changing, so whether your child has taken it before or is a new attendee, they are welcome to join in on the fun for a new and unique experience each time!

Fasten your seatbelts; we're in for some wild weather! This unit is all about the amazing and powerful forces of nature, as students explore the when, where, how and why of all kinds of natural phenomenon. These lessons are designed to improve your child's understanding of the forces of nature, while taking care not to alarm. Each LEGO® model represents the motion of that particular weather or event, with a seat for a mini-figure to take in the action! Take cover because we're about to take a trip through some wild weather! Kids will love to build moving models of a tornado, a tsunami, an earthquake and a cyclone using Bricks 4 Kidz proprietary instructions and LEGO® Bricks!  Learn how they move, why they happen and what you can do to stay safe!

This is a hands-on class where students build machines, buildings, vehicles and other structures out of LEGO® bricks, using one-of-a-kind model plans designed by Bricks 4 Kidz.  While exploring principles of engineering, architecture, physics and more, students will develop problem solving and critical thinking skills. Participants build a new project each week. Each class begins with a teacher-led discussion related to the day’s model. Once the project is completed, children use the rest of their time to expand their gadgets and collaborate with one another.

Reading is a skill and through reading, we can learn about anything and everything. The better you understand what you read, the better you will do in school, in your job, and in your life.  Students will read Fiction, Nonfiction and Informational text types to enhance their comprehension abilities and process content using higher level thinking. Students will work in peer discussion groups learning and perfecting skills in: identifying the main idea and supporting details, sequencing, relating experiences in a text with real-life experiences and events, asking meaningful questions in order to understand text, and answer questions about a text.  Together we will perfect comprehension skills in a dynamic collaborative environment while having fun and building confidence and motivation through reading.

Introduction to Creativity With Clay and Ceramics

In this beginners clay and ceramics class be prepared be creative and fun while you get your hands dirty. Students will learn clay basics through fun projects. The kids start by  learning about ceramic paints and what makes them so different from regular everyday paints. They will learn to make a pinch pot project, a name plaque with clay coils, a textured slab bowl, and a free choice clay project. All clay pieces will be painted once they are fired. The students will also paint on preformed ceramic pieces, a bowl, and a mug or figurine and best of all students will be able to keep their creations and take them home.

Don’t just teach kids to count, teach them what counts most! Yoga for Kids develops the whole child, providing a solid base for a life full of curiosity, learning, and wisdom. In this course, your child will have fun practicing challenging poses, partner & group poses, and playing yoga games. In addition, your child will learn how to focus and center themselves through various breathing and visualization techniques. Together, we will foster confidence and build resilience, creativity, strength and flexibility in both body and emotional regulation. Every child can be an artist but sometimes we need a starting point and the opportunity to grow! This fun and dynamic course allows your child to hone in on their artistic abilities and learn how to draw and create their own masterpieces. All they have to do is follow step-by-step directions, add some oil pastel, watercolor, and BOOM! This course allows your child to practice their ability to follow one and two step directions, work on their fine motor development, and have fun in the process. Writing is one of the main forms of communication. It is also one of the most dreaded subjects. Through this session of writing, students will learn how to communicate through writing. We will be working on many forms of writing. This session will include, writing in poetry, and how to interpret poetry, writing from different points of view, and narrative writing. We will also be focusing on the technical parts of writing such as sentence form and grammar.

Participants will:

  1. Engage in learning activities that give them positive their confidence with writing;
  2. Develop strong grammatical skills
  3. Utilize technology to self-publish their works
  4. Become equipped with the tools to organize his or her ideas
  5. Edit his/her own work.
