All courses will be taught by certified instructors, most of whom work in the Dublin School District.

We are still offering amazing courses like Automation & Robotics, Writing is an Exploration, Introduction to Video Production, The Science of Forensics Using Biology, Physics and Chemistry, Minecraft Modding, Design & Modeling and Introduction to App Design, plus several new courses which are detailed below.

New Course Offerings

Medical Detectives - Fresh from her studies at the Center for Disease Control (CDC) last summer, former Fallon instructor, Karen Brown, will introduce this very timely new course where students learn to use the scientific method in diagnosing medical issues & disease.  This is a topic very relevant to our world today.

Former Fallon science teacher, Ms. Karen Brown will be back this summer to teach her ever popular “Science of Forensics” and “Design & Modeling courses in session 1. Ms. Brown, who had a fellowship at the Center for Disease Control (CDC) last summer will introduce an exciting NEW COURSE, “Medical Detectives” where students will learn how researchers learn to investigate disease. A very timely topic for our world.

Archery for Everyone & Let’s Play Cricket! – For the first time, DPIE will introduce two new sport courses to the Academy.  Fallon instructor, Eric Lamonica, has some great activities planned for students interested in learning how to participate in the two fast growing sports of archery and cricket. Students who enroll in one or both of these courses will be on target this summer.

Beginning Your Writing Journey – Created by popular demand, DPIE has worked with Well’s English instructor, Sara Quintero (previously Sara Longyear), to create and offer a special writing class, just for entering 6th graders, where they will practice techniques aimed at improving writing skills.  A must for the emerging writer in your family!

Math Course 3 – This year and for the first time, the District is allowing qualified students to take Math Course 3 in the DPIE Academy.  In this course, students will learn the essential Pre Algebra skills needed to be successful in Algebra 1 in the Fall.  Current 6th & 7th grade Math Course 2 students, who meet the District criteria, can enroll in this course.  Please click here for more information about Math Course 3 criteria.

DPIE has partnered with the Dublin School District and will offer Course Math 3 for the first time that will help qualifying students prepare and qualify to take Algebra 1 in the Fall. Any student who has completed Course Math 2 may enroll in the course, but only students who have submitted approvals to the district our allowed to take the course for advancement purposes.

A Dramatic Return

Dublin High School Drama instructor, Kat DeLapp, will once again teach a six-week drama class for students in grades 6 – 8, which will culminate with a performance for parents on the last day of the program.  Eighth graders who successfully complete this course, will be able to skip Drama 1 at the High School and move directly into Drama 2.  Students in last year’s program raved about how much fun they had developing their acting skills and making great new friends.  Its show time for the budding actors in your family.

Students in Ms. Kat Delapp’s, Actors Workshop class presented the play “Keep Off the Grass” at the end of last year’s course. It was a hit with students and parents alike, serves as a great way for students to build confidence when speaking to a group, not to mention a wonderful way for middle school students to meet and make new friends.
