2022 DPIE Summer Academies Return to In-Person Instruction

DPIE Summer Camps return bigger and better with more enrichment opportunities for elementary and middle school students than ever before.  We have a total of 45 course offering for families to choose from, that promise to hold your child’s interest and we don’t think you will want to miss out on the opportunity to keep your child’s mind actively engaged during the summer break.

Fallon Middle School will serve as the host for both the elementary and middle school summer camps featuring many well-known Dublin teachers and our most popular vendors from the After School Enrichment Program. The DPIE Summer Camps run from June 13 – July 8.

Wide Variety of Courses to Choose From

The DPIE Summer Camps are jam-packed of enrichment courses for students to choose from that will keep their minds engaged and their imagination soaring during the long hot summer. Many of the courses have a track record of success in the program but we are also introducing some new courses that promise to be both educational and fun for your kids.  Some of our new offerings and popular classes are listed below.  Click on the course names for more detailed information.

Exciting New Course Offerings

….Some Courses are open to both elementary and Middle School Students

ARCHERY for Everyone  - Archery is one of the fastest growing sports in the Tri-Valley area and Fallon Middle School teacher, Mr Eric Lamonica, is offering two two-week sessions and he aims to keep his students on target. Students just LOVE Archery. Open to students in currently in grades 4 – 9.

Are You Ready for Broadway? Aladdin & the Wonderful Lamp – This three-week course is limited to 20 students and will culminate in two performances for friends and families of those enrolled in the program. If you have a budding or “wanna-be” STAR in your family, this class is the one for them. Open to students currently in grades 4 – 7.

Filmmaking 101 –Mr. Matt Wakerling from Fallon Middle School has worked as a professional film maker for years and has been teaching filmmaking prior to becoming a full-time teacher in Dublin. He is the instructor for this course and will share some of the tricks of the trade with his students. Perhaps it’s time to tap into the Steven Spielberg in your child. Open to students currently in grades 5 – 8.

Life Skills Combo Camp – Public Speaking, Debate and Personal Finance – Just what the doctor ordered for your ever-growing middle school student.  Students will learn to become more effective and fluent presenters while also improving their financial literacy. Students will learn the benefits of saving, budgeting, banking and entrepreneurship. Two classes, one for current grades 1-4 and another for current grades 5-7.

Artificial Intelligence Made Fun and Easy (Middle School) or AI Club, Get Inspired with Artificial Intelligence (Elementary) – Students will learn from AI professionals from Pxyeda AI Club and they will be amazed how Artificial Intelligence is a part of the fabric of our daily lives. Students will create their own AI devices to solve real-world problems. The middle school course is for students currently enrolled in grades 6 – 8 and the elementary class is for students currently in grades 3 – 5.

Advanced Lego Robotics – A wonderful blend of robotics, coding and hands-on learning. For students who have previously enrolled in after school Lego Robotics, WeDO Robotics courses or have experience with a robotics program. Current grades 1 – 5  - must have taken one of the required courses.  Contact DPIE for more information.

WeDo Lego Robotics – For the first-time LEGO robotics student who wants to build and learn to code. Participation in this class qualifies students to enroll in Advanced Lego Robotics. This class can be taken once or twice without repeating any of the previous projects.  For current students in grades 1-3.

Coding Classes by CodeFu Tri-Valley – Is offering three unique course this summer, Scratch Grasshopper-Coding Made Fun, Scratch Design Coding for Beginners and Newbies and Python Grasshopper-Learning to Code.  Enroll in one or all three, it doesn’t matter, these courses will help your student learn the world of coding in a fun and “learn by doing” environment.  Your child will not want these classes to end.  For current students in grades 2-4 .

Art Classes (Café Art) - Is offering a variety of expressive hands-on art courses geared to feed the creative juices of the young Rembrandt or Picasso in your family.  Art courses include Beach Art, Art Through the Ages, Global Art Passport and Elements & Principles of Art.  For current students in grades 1– 5.

Challenge Island Classes - Is offering three fun-filled classes this summer and their courses are filling fast. A different course is offered each week and daily classes are three-hours long, but these classes will bring new meaning to the phrase, “time flies.”  Courses include Slimetopia Camp, Pets Palooza Camp and Wizardry Camp. Try it, you’ll like it! These courses are filling quickly so enroll now before seats are all gone. For students currently in grades 1 – 4.

Some Popular Returning Classes …

Technology Classes – Some of our popular technology courses returning once again this year because of high demand are Automation & Robotics, App Creator, Computer Science for Innovators and Makers and Design & Modeling which will all be taught by Fallon Middle School teachers, Jim Parsons, Matt Wakerling, Kyle Voeller and Gabe Manalac.

Writing & Reading Classes - Wells Middle School teacher, Ms. Sara Quintero returns for the 6th year in a row to teach her popular writing course Exploring Oddities Through Fictional Writing and Fallon’s Middle School Teacher, Mr. Kyle Voeller is offering his popular Aspiring Authors Workshop class. Amador Elementary instructor Angelina Jennaro returns with her outstanding Book Study at Breakfast class that’s been a hit for several years and serves as a great way to enhances a student’s love of reading. She is offering three different elementary book study classes this time around and you can enroll in one, two or all three courses.

Science Classes - Former Dublin Teacher of the Year, Ms. Karen Brown returns to teach her always popular and science rich Science of Forensics and Medical Detectives classes. Kids learn how biology; chemistry & physics combine to help scientist and investigators solve real word mysterious. If you have a young scientist in your home, these are the classes for them.

Chess Classes - Is once again being offered by Pacific Chess Academy and the course is one of the most popular and in-demand classes in our program. The chess class is designed for all ability levels and your kids will have the chance to learn new skills and strategies in creative new ways. Checkmate!  For students currently enrolled in grades 1 – 5.

DPIE Summer High School Academy Returns to Dublin High

The DPIE Summer High School Academy will return to an in-person format this summer at Dublin High School after two summers of distance learning. More than 160 students have already enrolled in Advanced Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, Biology, Honors Chemistry and Physical Education courses and the numbers continue to grow.

Students in the DPIE High School Academy are choosing to accelerate their academic education and have enrolled in DPIE because of the Academy’s history of success. The Academy runs from June 6 – July 15, where the Dublin High School curriculum is taught by certificated teachers from the Dublin and Pleasanton School Districts and all final grades can be added to the transcripts of Dublin students only.
