We are delighted to be able to offer the 2023 Murray Summer Academy in-person at Murray Elementary School. We have four, 19 day enrichment courses to offer from current 1st to 5th Grades. Our enrichment courses will be open to students from all school districts.
Grades stated in the course descriptions are for the current 2022 - 2023 school year. Please enroll your student accordingly.
Camps from June 13 to July 11, 2023
Challenge Island: Where Engineering Meets Imagination and FUN!

Course Description:
Join us for 19 days of action packed, hands-on fun! We will have 4 camps within one during the 19 days of classes.
We will start with "Slimetopia Camp™" - an ooey, gooey, squishy, squashy, slippery, stretchy slime-drenched camp extravaganza! Learn the science behind the slime while making and opening your own Slimetopia Theme Park.
Next, "Arcade Mania Camp" - This Kids-Choice Challenge Island adventure puts a 100% SCREEN-FREE STEAM twist on popular video games: From Super STEAMio to Island Blox to Mine Island to Fort Island to retro-inspired games like Space Aliens and Pinball Machines!
Then, "Steam-Warts (Academy of Wizards, Spells and Potions)" - Calling all wizard-loving, Harry Potter fans to a magical week of spellbinding adventure! You’ll design your own Hogwarts house, potions, wand and wizarding gear and be sorted into your perfect house. You and your housemates will then take a full load of STEAMwarts classes from Magical Creatures to Charms and Potions to Sheltering from Darkness.
Lastly, "Slimetopia Camp 2 Total Slime Takeover" - this squishy, squashy, stretchy sequel to our bestselling Slimetopia camp. This time the world is being taken over by slime! You and your STEAM Team will ooze with excitement as you visit countries across the globe making a different kind of slime at each destination. From Italian pizza slime to Antarctic penguin slime to Hawaiian lava slime to tons of other slippy, drippy, gooey, global slimes in between.
There will be a 15 minute break during the class and snacks will be provided.
Chess Summer Camps for All Levels

Course Description:
Enjoy the game of chess this summer and participate in the DPIE Chess Camp offered by Pacific Chess Academy. This course is open to all levels of chess players, it doesn’t matter if you are new to chess or an experienced chess player, this is a great opportunity to learn the game or to improve your knowledge and ability to play strategically. The summer program will begin each day with 30 – 45 minutes of chess instruction followed by 30 minutes of chess play with fellow students. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of tournaments styles including Giant Chess, Bughouse, Sac City & Speed Chess. Students will also get the chance to test their skills in simultaneous games against the instructor and the class will include lots of outdoor activities.
There will be a 15 minute break during the class and snacks will be provided.

Course Description:
Join our brand-new summer theater camp and let's put on a show! In this exciting program, we’ll all work together to create, rehearse, and perform an original new play! We’ll have a blast using theater games, acting exercises, storytelling activities and the art of improvisation to create our own characters, make up the story, and write our new play. Then, at the end of the program, we’ll perform our play for an invited audience of friends, fans, and family members! Fun for all ages, this exciting introduction to the art and practice of live theater is not to be missed!
There will be a 15 minute break during the class and snacks will be provided.
LEGO, Movies and Game Action are a Snap!

Course Description:
Join us this summer for 4 classes in one with Compuchild.
- WeDo Lego Robotics
Kids will have a great time in this hands-on Robotics course while also being introduced to various aspects of mechanical, electrical, and computer science Engineering. Students will be introduced to a block coding language in order to provide an intuitive understanding for programming as well as provide easy to follow instructions to build many simple machines. - Game Development
This is a beginners course in design and building games. Students will be using the roblox game engine to build 3D games and learning the fundamentals of programming doing so. This is a fun way for kids to learn programming while applying their creative side to design games. They will be learning and practicing the concepts of variables, IF ELSE conditions, Loops, timers, functions, checkpoint, and events in this course. - Stop Motion
Everyone has a story to tell. Make yours memorable with Frames. Combine imagination, art and technological skills to create stop motion animation projects to share at your school, with family or with friends. Learn how to use cool special effects while creating your project that will be the envy of all your friends. You will learn how to use stop motion as can be seen in many popular movies such as Kubo, Missing Link, Boxtrolls, and even Robocop. During the course you will learn the step-by-step instructions, from video editing to the compilation of pictures, to make your own movie. - Working with Snap Circuits
We will teach basic engineering, electronics and circuitry concepts by building components (musical doorbell, siren, motion detectors, 2 speed fan with lights and many more) using hands-on snap circuit kits. This is a part of maker series where children build their own circuits and learn in depth about electricity, battery, parallel and series circuits etc. We teach kids basic concepts in a fun and exciting way. If your child likes to work with creative hands-on projects, the Snap Circuit class is the one for them.
