It’s laughter, learning and limelight with the After School Drama Club’s The Actor’s Workshop! Through a fun series of theater games, acting exercises and scripted scene work, this introductory acting class teaches the fundamentals of the actor’s craft. Students explore the “three tools of the actor” – voice, body and imagination – as they learn how to create characters, interpret scripts and perform for an audience. The class teaches true theater skills such as stagecraft, emotionally truthful acting, and professional theater etiquette, while encouraging creativity and inspiring the imagination. The class culminates with a free workshop presentation of scenes and monologues for an invited audience.
Take it once or take it again and again! Students are encouraged to repeat the program several times. While the overall objectives remain the same, there are always new games, new activities and new performance scenes to keep the program varied and interesting. As students progress through successive iterations of the program, they continue to work on more sophisticated material in order to ensure that their skills continue to grow and that they are being appropriately challenged.

Calling all explorers! Let's adventure through the largest rainforest in the world ...the Amazon! This beautiful jungle habitat is full of amazing and fascinating creatures such as leaf cutter ants, red-eyed tree frogs, emerald tree boas, iguanas, howler monkeys, toucans, sloths, jaguars, macaws, blue morpho butterflies, and piranhas...OH MY! Grab your binoculars, your adventure cap, and let's learn about this far off, beautiful place and the fascinating creatures that inhabit it. An active, energetic, and diverse Bollywood Dance class that will focus on merging many different styles of dance into one, while encouraging students to build their confidence levels. Students will be exposed to Indian Classical Dance, Folk Dance, Bhangra, and Bollywood through choreographed dance pieces. Students will learn specific technique associated with each of these dance styles, including but not limited to what the hand gestures and steps are called, the meaning behind each gesture, and how to string it together in a fluid motion. Lessons will focus on understanding rhythm and how to hear the beats within each song.
Students will learn the true art of performance, with lessons on stage presence, facial expressions, and expressing emotions through dance! Students will build their knowledge on how to weave all the different forms of dance to create a choreographed piece. In addition, through BollyFusion dance classes, students will learn character traits like responsibility, passion, and hard work, while learning vibrant and entertaining dances.

Sketchbooks are great because you're not confined to just drawing. You can use it as a place to explore different mediums, study different techniques, create color palettes, design patterns, and keep a collection of visuals that inspire you. Using a variety of mediums in a sketchbook also helps grow creativity. In this 9/10 week course, our students will practice different skills and techniques, explore color, and create different styles of art. At the end of the course they will go home with a. complete sketchbook of projects such as: creating value, Line Drawings, Dulaunay Abstract Art, Winter Folk art Trees, Farm Animals, Combining Line, Color and Pattern, Close-up Look at Eyes of Reptiles. Kids will be combing their work and binding into a sketchbook at the end of class.

Inspired by the budding beauty of the Spring season artists will complete several unique handmade pieces that students will be proud of and families will enjoy for years to come! Students will learn and apply a variety of applications, techniques and skills throughout this course that will build their overall confidence and as a bonus provide inspiration when making their own crafts or works of art.
Spring inspired projects for this course could include painted pottery, lanterns, decorative signs, and birdhouses with crafting materials that reflect the Spring season and could include items like pressed or dried flowers, bunnies and carrots, budding blooms of all kinds, as well as watering cans and umbrellas.
Crafting in Bloom will give budding young artists a fun opportunity for personal expression and exploration.

Amador 2nd grade instructor, Ms Elizabeth Littlejohn LOVES to see returning and new students alike as writing is a process that improves with practice over time. In this ever-changing course your child will learn about character, plot and setting development and use their 5 senses to enhance and add detail to their story line before sharing their stories with their peers!
Students will experiment with all of these techniques and challenge themselves to think outside of the box. Some of the activities include raffle stories, random picture stories, painted paper stories, shared stories, squiggle stories, seasonal stories, and many more! Inspire your child to write in the world of mystery and adventure!
This course will explore the art of mystery and adventure and the ingredients that go into creating this type of fiction. This course is all about unknowns! Students will read several mystery stories and adventure events and develop an appreciation of a compelling story: plot, dialogue, figurative language, character development, sequence of events, and imagery. Mysteries from children’s books and adventures like Gulliver’s Travels and other classics will be read. Meaning and characters will develop imaginative writing.
Each student will attempt to create their own story with guidance from the instructor on how to realize detective details, inference, and many unknowns that are learned from human behavior. Students draw on all materials read aloud in class and get their chance to create their very own stories. Imagination through reading and writing allows each student to have fun and share their voice through mysteries and adventures which allows the characters to come to life and mimic human behavior in the worlds of motivation and pleasure seeking. Distinguishing between fact and fiction, characters and situations come alive with your child’s voice. What fun!

Phonics awareness builds reading comprehension skills. Decoding one-syllable and
two-syllable words, digraphs, common prefixes and suffixes, and irregularly spelled words are skills necessary for improved reading through our vocabulary section. The instructor will read aloud text which helps students understand how individual words connect together to form a fluent sentence. Reading aloud also promotes an understanding of how language flows and demonstrates how to pronounce multisyllabic words. Who? What? When? Where? Why? How? (WWWWH) direct their attention as they read, so students can decode new and unfamiliar words and information. The main ideas, tone, and predictions of "what will happen next," and how the tone in which a passage is written are discussed.

Explore the world of science creating origami organelles. We will take an adventure into our desert, arctic, oceanic, and land biomes. Within each biome, students will investigate various animals and their habitat while creating origami species and a biome display.
