Help Us Make a Difference in 2019

As the educational foundation for the Dublin Unified School District (DUSD), we support programs which allow the 12,000+ students who attend the 12 DUSD schools to discover their potential, expand their classroom learning, and explore educational opportunities outside their textbooks. We succeed because of the generosity of our community and our programs are only limited by the amount we are able to raise.

There are five months left in the school year with a lot to accomplish and we are asking our community members to consider a donation to our organization which will directly support all DUSD students. With a minimum donation of $35 you will receive an "I am a Dublin Partner in Education" car magnet.

Michael Utsumi, our Funding & Programs Coordinator will reach out to each qualifying donor to make arrangements to deliver your car magnet.

COVID-19 DPIE UPDATE - 03/13/2020

Dear Parents

Today we learned that the Dublin School Board, at the recommendation of Superintendent Dave Marketn, made the decision to close all schools effective Monday, March 16 through Sunday April 12.  We understand that it was a prudent decision to make in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

All of us at DPIE share your concern for your children's safety and we are staying in daily communication with the school district so we can keep abreast of all updates and decisions made by the school district leadership.

We are making contingency plans for our After School Program and we will be updating you as we receive new information.  Currently, our plans are to review our course schedules and continue with the After School STEAM classes beginning on Monday, April 13 when schools re-open.  All plans will be subject to the school district's precautions regarding the safety of our children.

Please be patient as we work through this unprecedented time in our history.

Do you have a Passion for Art?

We interviewed our Art Instructor, Ms Julie Coching to find out why she has such a passion for art and offering 3 different art classes in our Fall After School program.

Ms Julie Coching

"There are so many benefits to taking art that it’s hard to just pick out a few. What’s fun for me is when the kids in my classes are just having fun and enjoying themselves, they don’t even really know they are developing these particular skills. Creating art definitely requires the use of fine motor skills, from basic drawing, coloring, cutting, shaping and molding.  The kids are constantly improving and adding more details to their work. Some kids are very creative while others have to be encouraged to think out of the box.

In our 10-week program we make it a safe place for kids to experiment,  it’s fun to see how kids begin to feel free to create and over time I can see how they are willing to try new ideas and approaches.  Because art is made up of all different shapes and proportions kids do begin to understand special relationships better and you can usually see it in their work, but what I enjoy most is seeing how kids begin to use their imagination to expand on assignments and bring them to life. What they are really learning is the creative process and that’s invaluable to them."
